Day 1– Monday June 23, 2016
Upon arrival you’ll check into the hotel and get some rest. This will be a day of self introduction and getting to meet students from other schools and countries.
Day 2– Sunday June 23, 2016
Aftre breakfast you visit the Quincy Market. After lunch you’ll begin a guided walking tour on the Freedom Trail. You’ll see the State House, Boston Common, the Granary Burial Ground, the Old South Meeting House and Fanueil Hall. Then you’ll continue to the North End where you’ll the home of Paul Revere and the Old North Church. Your tour will end in Cambridge where you’ll visit Harvard Yard and Harvard Square. In the evening you’ll have dinner at the Hard Rock Café and then head over to enjoy a performance of Blue Man Group. After your adventure, you’ll head to your hotel for check in.
Day 3– Monday June 24, 2016
This morning you’ll have breakfast in the hotel and then head to Salem. You’ll visit the Salem Witch Museum where you’ll experience a multi-media presentation about the Salem Witch Trials and then you’ll see an exhibit about modern day witches. Then you’ll continue to the House of Seven Gables for a tour. This dwelling was written about by early American author Nathaniel Hawthorne. After the visits you’ll have some free time to have lunch, shop and see the town of Salem. In the afternoon you’ll head into Boston and visit the New England Aquarium. You’ll have time to see the exhibits and also an IMAX film. In the evening you’ll enjoy a dinner at Union Oyster House. You will then return back to the hotel for the evening.
Day 4– Tuesday June 25, 2016
This morning you’ll check out of your hotel and head into downtown Boston. You’ll first visit the Museum of Science where there are numerous hands on exhibits and a great presentation about electricity. After your visit you’ll continue to the Prudential Center where you’ll have some free time to shop and have lunch in their food court. After lunch you’ll continue the drive outside of Boston to Lexington and Concord. Here you’ll visit Minuteman National Historic Park. You’ll see the bridge where the “Shot heard round the world” was fired and where the American Revolution began. After your visit you’ll depart for your trip home.
Day 5– Wednesday June 26, 2016
Upon arrival, you will meet your tour guide and begin your tour. You will begin by taking a walking tour with a visit to Times Square, Central Park, Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. You’ll continue your walk to Grand Central Station where you’ll take a break for lunch in the food court. In the afternoon you’ll take a tour at the United Nations Headquarters. On your tour you’ll learn about the establishment and function of this international governing body. In the evening you’ll have dinner at Ellen’s Stardust Diner. Here the wait staff will entertain you as they sing popular show tunes while serving your dinner. After dinner you’ll see a fantastic view of the Manhattan skyline from 86th floor observatory at the Empire State Building. Then you’ll head to your hotel for check in.
Day 6– Thursday June 27, 2016
After breakfast in your hotel, you’ll take the ferry over to Ellis Island. You’ll see fantastic views of the Statue of Liberty and have a chance to view the exhibits at the immigration museum. You’ll learn about the immigrant experience upon their first arrival to America in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Over 100 million Americans today can trace their lineage to a relative that passed through Ellis Island. After your visit you’ll take the ferry back to Manhattan and then you’ll walk up past Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange to former World Trade Center Site where you’ll have lunch and see the 9/11 memorial. After your visit you’ll continue to Chinatown and Little Italy where you’ll have some free time for shopping. In the evening you’ll have dinner and then see a Broadway show.
Day 7– Friday June 28, 2016
This morning, you'll take a tour at NBC Studios in Rockefeller Center. You’ll see the set of Saturday Night Live and the evening national news programs. You’ll also learn a bit about NBC. Next you’ll take a walking tour in Central Park where you’ll visit the Wollman Ice Rink, Sheep Meadow, the Mall, the Bethesda Fountain, the Boathouse and Strawberry Fields. You’ll see the Imagine Memorial to John Lennon and the Dakota Building where the former member of the Beatles lived. After the tour you’ll head down to Chelsea for a lunch at the Chelsea Market. This food market built inside the former Manhattan Nabisco factory and is also home to the Food Network. It’s located in the trendy “Meat Packing District” neighborhood where you’ll see designer boutiques adjacent to meat packing plants. After lunch you’ll take a walk on the High Line Park. This modern urban park is built an unused elevated railway track that spans more than 30 blocks. After your walk you’ll have some free time in midtown before you depart for Boston.
